Service Opportunities

Ready to get involved? Service work is rewarding and helps both you and others in recovery.

Why Service Matters

Service is one of AA’s Three Legacies, alongside Recovery and Unity. When we carry the message of recovery to those still suffering, we strengthen our own sobriety while helping others find hope.

AA service encompasses everything from one-on-one sponsorship and making coffee at meetings to participating in committees that support our fellowship locally and globally. Every act of service, no matter how small, helps us reach someone who needs our message.

“We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither and those who haven’t been given the truth may die.”

Office & Direct Service Opportunities

Office Workers: Help with administrative tasks, answer phones, and assist visitors to the Intergroup office. Flexible scheduling available.

Hotline Committee: Answer calls from people seeking help with alcoholism. Training provided. Great way to practice Step 12.

12 Step List: Be available to meet with newcomers and share your experience, strength, and hope one-on-one.

Intergroup Representative: Represent your home group at monthly Intergroup meetings and help coordinate local AA activities.

Getting Started

Most service positions require no special skills—just willingness and a desire to help. Training is provided for all roles, and you can start with whatever time commitment works for you.

New to service? Consider starting with office work or joining a committee that interests you. You can always change or add responsibilities as you grow in service.
